Are you experiencing homophobia from your child’s grandparents, extended family, school, spiritual or personal community?
Are you struggling to raise your child in a loving environment, yet lack the support of those around you?
Are you working through the challenges of second parent adoption?
Many LGBTQ parents are afraid they are bringing children into a world wrought with hate. Many have to pretend they “have it all under control” for fear of being rejected when asking for help from their unsupportive families, friends or larger communities. The challenges that LGBTQ families tackle are often similar to those of heterosexual families, but are compounded by the more and less subtle realities of coping with homophobia.
Grounding yourself and in effect, your parenting skills, will enable you to better parent your child in the face of cultural or familial disapproval and fear. Learning to identify and trust your parenting instincts is a process through which we will support you.
