  • Do you feel constantly overwhelmed as a parent?
  • Is your relationship suffering because of disagreements about parenting?
  • Are you struggling with your child’s behavioral problems?
  • Are you constantly worrying you are not doing parenting “the right way”?

Many parents doubt their parenting abilities and feel alone in facing their seemingly unhappy, anxious, or angry child.  Many parents feel frustrated because they have tried “everything” to understand and support their child but nothing seems to work!  It is possible that your child simply has a different temperament than you, or has experienced traumatic events in their young life and you are not sure how to best support them.  One way or another, struggling with your parenting is exhausting, stressful and often isolating.

  • Are you a foster parent struggling with your child’s earlier traumas?
  • Are you preparing to adopt your child and wondering whether they will ever feel safe or happy with you?

Fostering and adopting a child can feel both exciting and scary.  Many children have come from traumatizing life situations and are struggling with living in a safe and nurturing home.  They are learning new ways of living, communicating, being nurtured, loved and held.  And just like any relationship, you both need to slowly learn one another in order to create safety and trust.

Parents often feel relieved when they have a place to vent, while also receiving support and validation that may be difficult to find anywhere else.

In therapy, I offer a safe space for parent(s) to process frustrations and successes.  I collaboratively problem solve questions with you, nurture foster and adoptive parents with their new family dynamics, help single parents find support within the community and assist couples in positively uniting in order to better support one another through the toughest job you will ever have.

Working with parents is an integral part of the process, because with their support and attention the children can truly flourish.  I have compassionately worked with many parents, providing tools for effective communication and exploring problem-solving techniques.
